Plant and Life Sciences Publishing (PALS)
Permanent URI for this collection
This collection contains items published by the Natural Resource, Agriculture, and Engineering Service (NRAES), previously known as the Northeast Regional Agricultural Engineering Service), a multi-university program in the Northeast United States, and its successor, Plant and Life Sciences (PALS) Publishing. NRAES was sponsored by fourteen universities, (including at least eight Land Grants): University of Connecticut, University of Delaware, University of the District of Columbia, University of Maine, University of Maryland, University of Massachusetts, University of New Hampshire, Rutgers University, Cornell University, The Pennsylvania State University, University of Rhode Island, University of Vermont, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and West Virginia University. PALS was formed to manage the NRAES catalog after it disbanded in 2011.
Ceasing operations in 2018, PALS was a program of the Department of Horticulture in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) at Cornell University. Like NRAES, PALS assisted university faculty in publishing, marketing and distributing books for small farmers, gardeners, land owners, workshops, college courses, and consumers.
An archive of the PALS website and catalog can be found on the Internet Archive . Print copies of some titles are available for purchase from the Cornell Store. Note that due to outstanding copyright issues or clearly identified out-of-date practices, only the front matter (e.g. cover, table of contents, acknowledgements, etc.) are provided for some titles at this time. A link to the WorldCat catalog record is provided for those titles to facilitate locating print copies at a local library.
Please note that some practices suggested here may be out-of-date, with these materials serving more as a historical record than current best (or safest) practice. Consult with a current expert resource for the best suggestions.
