Part 1: Overview of advanced manure treatment

Other Titles

Advanced Manure Treatment

Abstract

Dairy farms are looking for ways to further partition and recover concentrated nutrient components of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, from manure that has been preprocessed, typically with anaerobic digestion and/or initial manure separation. Advanced manure treatment technologies for phosphorus recovery, nitrogen recovery, and energy extraction are identified in this overview. Subsequent fact sheets in the series focus on the details of each of these specific areas of advanced manure treatment.
