Opportunities for enhancing the productivity of biofeedstocks and minimizing inputs: Theory and practice
Author

Abstract
The ideal biomass crop would include long canopy duration, the ability to capture energy for as much of the year as possible and make use of the solar energy the earth receives daily. Recycling nutrients to the roots is important as is low input and reduced pressure on water resources. Sterility and/or noninvasiveness are necessary to avoid the possibility of new crops becoming aggressive weeds. Miscanthus is a perennial grass that seems to have all the qualities needed for a biomass crop.
