Abstract

An initial assessment of an on-farm manure treatment system consisting of a screw press solid-liquid separator continuously feeding the separated solids to a rotary drum composting unit was conducted to identify possible impacts on antibiotic resistance mitigation. This case study provides a summary of the methods and results from the published study. Results at system sampling points are compared using the estimated average total mass of detected antibiotic residues and the number of antibiotic resistance genes.
