The Bookpress

Published and edited by Cornell alumnus Jack Goldman, proprietor of The Bookery, an antiquarian bookstore in Ithaca, New York, The Bookpress stood at the center of the region’s literary culture during its 13-year lifespan (1991-2003). It featured book reviews, essays, artwork, interviews, and poetry by regional college faculty, graduate students, and freelance writers, many of whom were nationally recognized scholars and authors. In the service of its stated goal to encourage of literary community and conversation in upstate New York, The Bookpress was freely distributed in bookstores, cafes, libraries, campuses, and galleries in Ithaca, Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo, and their surrounding towns.
