Description
A winner of the James F. Slevin Assignment Sequence Prize, this sequence originates from Development Sociology 111, Corporate Controversies: Exploring Big Scandal in Big Business. Students choose an article or editorial from a major local, national, or international newspaper or magazine to serve as the basis for writing a letter to the editor. They then complete a series of assignments and revisions that culminates in a 200-400 word letter to the editor of that periodical. The sequence includes three main writing assignments as well as in-class exercises on topics such as sentences and peer review. 9 page pdf
