This workbook is written to accompany the NYS Local Technical Assistance Program Center - NYSLTAP - Cornell Local Roads Program workshop, Dollars and $ense of Municipal Operations. As such, it contains many exercises and forms for use in the workshop. However, it is also written to be self-standing for use by those who cannot attend.
This course covers the roles and responsibilities involved in municipal budgeting for small to medium-sized departments. The materials covered will be of use to any highway or public works superintendent. It will also be useful for municipal governing boards or financial personnel. Like all of our workshops, there is more material in the workbook than will be covered in the workshop. There may be exercises and discussion during the workshop that are not in the workbook so we recommend attending the workshop when you can, to gain additional insight and learn from your fellow department managers.
