dc.description.abstractMemorial Statement for Professor Alison P. Casarett, M.S., Ph.D. (1930-2002) who was Assistant Professor (1963), Associate Professor (1969), and Professor (1979) of Radiation Biology at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. She was also Director of the Institute in Radiation Biology. Professor Casarett was the first woman Dean of The Graduate School serving as Associate Dean (1973) and Dean (1979). As Vice Provost (1978-1984), she was "one of the pioneering leaders of the University." "She was a productive researcher, with many journal articles and textbooks on radiation biology to her credit, and a teaching schedule that included courses on the biological effects of radiation, radiological physics, and applied radiation biology for veterinary students." The memorial statements contained herein were prepared by the Office of the Dean of the University Faculty of Cornell University to honor its faculty for their service to the university.en_US
