Agricultural biotechnology: Savior or scourge?

Author
Jacobson, Michael F.
Abstract
Both, advocates and critics of genetic engineering should recognize that the wisest course of action would be simultaneously to follow several paths to satisfy our food needs, making use of genetic engineering, conventional methods, and organic or sustainable approaches. Many farmers are discovering that sustainable agriculture, including organic farming—based on smaller farms, diverse crops, and natural means of pest control—may be just as profitable, or even more so.
