Decolonize Your Love

Author
Anica, Rocio
Abstract
A first-person feminist picaresque about a Chicanx inspired by the turbulent history of the California missions—the myriad ways the missions and their perpetrated genocide of local tribes—thus embarking on a long solo road-trip down El Camino Real with the intent to graffiti and sneak protest art into the missions. Deliana Rincon travels down the coast, living out of her car, surfing, and meeting like-minded intersectional artivists on her pilgrimage. Ultimately, Del is forced to ask herself what it means to literally and intellectually live on the fringes of present-day America, where telling the truth, rejecting borders, and questioning colonized codes of conduct under the patriarchy can lead to alienation and punishment.
