How Grapevines Respond to Water Stress

Author
Martinson, Timothy E.; Lasko, Alan
Abstract
Leaf stomata open and close to regulate water vapor and CO2 exchange. When drought stress causes closure, photosynthesis and evaporative cooling stops. Prolonged deficits cause leaf senescence, ripening delays, and carryover effects.
