Abstract

Roald Hoffman and Robert Woodward (Harvard) will share the first American Chemical Society Cope Award for outstanding contributions to organic chemistry. Woodward and Hoffmann's "Rules of Organic Symmetry", formulated in 1965, for which the award will be made, has been called the greatest theoretical advance in organic chemistry in 30 years.
