Herbicide-Resistant Crop Management: A Canadian Perspective
Author
Beckie, Hugh J.
Abstract
The Canadian perspective is focused on the comprehensive approaches to weed resistance in Canada for GE canola, corn, and soybeans, including reporting requirements, BMPs to minimize resistance, and systematic monitoring for herbicide-resistant weeds. Resistance management plans have been required to deregulate herbicide-resistant crops for more than a decade in Canada. Following deregulation, a framework that incorporates weed surveys was developed to facilitate the early identification of herbicide-resistant weeds through environmental monitoring of released GE crops.
