The Living Lab process to scale farmer-centric digital innovation
Living Labs viewed as an innovation instrument gained more and more popularity these past years, mainly within the agriculture and agrifood sectors as shown for example by several European projects related to Living Labs. After introducing the main dimen- sions of a Living Lab with some examples and national initiatives in agriculture, then presenting the characteristics of a process based on the Living Lab approach involving farmers and in relation to on-farm experimentation, some considerations regarding a Living Lab not as a specific methodology for conducting projects or on-farm experi- mentations but as open innovation ecosystem on a territory are addressed and some recommendations are given regarding how to scale up farmer-centric digital innova- tion.
