Lambasting Louis: Lessons from pasteurization
Author
Hotchkiss, Joseph H.
Abstract
The example of pasteurization and the battle for its acceptance can help with an approach to make GMO products more acceptable to the consumer. But it is vital to communicate in ways that the target groups understand. Technical details sound great when preaching to the choir, but may be meaningless to many consumers. Among the most important questions for consumers are: Who benefits? Who is at risk? What will it cost? Who oversees the technology? What are the health and environmental risks?
