Abstract
An update of some woody ornamental insect pests in New York state. Pest discussed include Southern pine beetle, black stem borer (Xylosandrus germanus), granulate ambrosia beetle (X. crassiusculus), a “new” elm leafminer identified as Stigmella multistriata, Asian longhorned beetle. In addition, there are a couple of “new” insects including the California maple aphid (Periphyllus californiensis) and Tuberocephalus sakurae, a species of aphid that severely galls foliage on ‘Kwanzan’ and possibly other cherries, as well as a new plant bug Rhabdomiris striatellus.
