Abstract

This degree book explores the paradigm shift in design towards embracing impermanence and its implications for creating sustainable, just, and diverse built environments. It examines the evolving understanding of temporary structures and their potential to offer innovative solutions that challenge the traditional notions of permanence in design. Additionally, the paper discusses the social, environmental, and cultural benefits of embracing impermanence and highlights the importance of considering alternative perspectives to enhance design practices. In particular, the analysis is related to the example of impermanence architecture in Indian festivals at the end.
