UTILIZING AGENT-BASED MODELING AND OPINION DYNAMICS TO ENHANCE SOCIAL INTERACTION EVIDENCE FOR HISTORIC BUILDING PRESERVATION
This thesis explores the dynamics of social interactions in the preservation of historic buildings, highlighting historic buildings as catalysts for community cohesion through cultural heritage integration. To simulate and understand these dynamics, the thesis employs Organizational Dynamics (OD) and Agent-Based Modeling (ABM). OD models quantify how agents' opinions evolve within dynamic social environments, while ABM simulates scenarios of community engagement and place-making. This research aims to provide systematic evidence of how social interactions shape attitudes towards cultural heritage conservation, informing strategies for vibrant and inclusive communities. Understanding these dynamics is essential for urban planners, policymakers, and conservationists seeking to garner public support and enhance participation in preservation initiatives. Furthermore, the study emphasizes refining modeling approaches to better predict real-world social systems, focusing on opinion dynamics influenced by peer interactions and individual predispositions.
