Allison, a 15-year-old, spayed domestic longhair cat presented to Cornell on 2/5/08 for seizures. Prior to arrival, she had had two episodes of drooling, circling to the right, right-sided facial twitching, vocalization, and uncontrollable jerking of her right thoracic limb. The owners reported no loss of consciousness, urination or defecation. MR imaging of Allison's brain showed an extra-axial contrast enhancing lesion in the left temporal/frontal lobe that was most likely consistent with a meningioma. Allison was also started on prednisone to relieve peri-tumoral edema that was associated with the mass. A craniotomy was performed. Allison's brain tissue appeared healthy and the mass was removed and submitted for histopathology. The intracranial mass was identified as a meningiothelial meningioma. Most cases of feline intracranial meningioma carry a good to excellent prognosis with surgical excision. This case will be utilized to help illustrate diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of meningiomas in cats.
