Multimodal Wound Therapy in a 1 Year Old Turkey
This case report describes a one year old turkey hen with bilateral traumatic wounds. The patient was initially presented to the Cornell University Hospital for Animals Exotics Service for evaluation of extensive wounds over the lateral body walls caudal to the wings and extending caudoventrally. Aggressive debridement and closure of the left body wall wound was performed. Negative pressure wound therapy was pursued on the right side after the wound was partially closed. Several bandage changes and surgical debridements were performed and the wound was fully closed and healed after 15 weeks. This report will highlight a multimodal approach to managing difficult wounds, including debridement, open wound management and negative pressure wound therapy.
