San Cleto & Giardino Nomentano At Two Crossroads
Executive Summary: With this report, we have endeavored to create as complete a picture of the San Cleto and Giardino Nomentano neighborhoods as possible. Of course, a comprehensive neighborhood study, even for a comparatively small community, is no small task, and as such we can make no claim to absolute completion. There is undoubtedly more to be learned about these communities. That said, we feel we have come a long way in compiling, collecting, and in some cases generating useful knowledge of this area. The following pages will present our findings pertaining to history, local demographics, built environment conditions, services, resident experience, real estate markets, and key urban issues identified by our interviewees as being of local significance. Based on this descriptive study, we have also assembled a Strengths-Challenges-Opportunities (SCO) analysis and a set of tentative suggestions for steps to address a pair of resident-identified issues. These issues are ambiguous greenspace ownership and upkeep, as well as a controversial “Black Points” traffic plan. Our suggestions should not be understood to be in any way prescriptive. They are depictions of observations and feedback, and we hope the area can use them to work toward productive solutions.
