The letter of an Austrian soldier describing the military frontier and the border soldiers (Grenzer or Granicari) around the Hungarian periphery. Covers the following themes: Military Frontier of Hungary; its Extent and Situation--Frontier troops--The Seressans; their personal appearance, costume--Dress of the other Border Troops their character; military spirit of their Women; their personal beauty; their costume--Villages of the Borderers--Family houses--Patriarchal manners--Service required of the Border-Soldier--Guard-posts.
