The diagnosis and surgical repair of a bladder inguinal hernia in a castrated rabbit is reviewed. The patient was a 1.5-year-old male castrated Trianta rabbit referred to Cornell University Hospital for Animals for a swelling in the left inguinal region. An ultrasound was performed which images confirmed that the urinary bladder had herniated through the left inguinal canal. Herniorrhaphy was performed and the left inguinal canal closed. Unique rabbit anatomy and surgical implications in regards to castration and hernia prevention will be considered.
