Abstract

This fact sheet describes the scientific evidence of whether the herbicide alachlor affects the risk of breast cancer and other cancers. This includes information on its use in agriculture, a summary of the studies that have evaluated its cancer risk, how it is regulated, levels in water supplies, who may be exposed to alachlor and its breakdown products, where more research is needed, and how to minimize exposure to this pesticide.
