Abstract

Proptosis is most common in brachycephalic breeds. The condition can occur in dolichocephalic breeds, most often as a result of blunt trauma to the head. Prognosis for vision in a proptosed eye is poor. Only 20-30% of patients regain visual function. Treatment options for proptosis are replacement or enucleation. Treatment is dependent on physical and ophthalmologic exam findings.
