Abstract
This fact sheet describes the scientific evidence of whether the pesticide heptachlor and its breakdown product heptachlor epoxide affects the risk of breast cancer and other cancers. This includes information on the history of heptachlor's use and current exposure to its breakdown products, a summary of the studies that have evaluated its cancer risk, where more research is needed, and how to minimize exposure to heptachlor that is still present in the environment.
