Abstract

Summary of the history of the excavation of Tell en-Nasbeh by William Frederic Badè between 1926 and 1935, and its publication by Chester C. McCown and Joseph C. Wampler in 1947. Notes problems with the original publication. Discusses the identification of the site with biblical Mizpah of Benjamin. Since about 1990 there has been a small surge of studies involving the Tell en-Nasbeh remains. Presents possible avenues for further research.
