Abstract
An trough-like installation built of clay and stone was discovered in a partially covered courtyard in a building excavated in Area G, Phase 9 (Iron I) at Tel Dor. First describes the trough and its context in detail and then examines other trough-like installations known from the ancient eastern Mediterranean and Near Eastern worlds. Most parallels suggest such troughs were used as platforms for grinding grain into flour.
