Abstract

This paper presents a method for calculating a set of crop enterprise budgets for up to five crops grown using a specified set of farm machinery. Machinery ownership costs, operating costs and labor requirements are calculated. A set of templates for the Supercalc brand of electronic spreadsheet, version 1.12, on an Osborne 1 microcomputer is used. 1 The templates are intended for use in teaching Extension staff and advanced farm managers about crop enterprise budgeting, economics of crop production and machinery management. They are also intended as an applied research tool and as an aid for Extension staff in counseling farmers.
