Abstract

This case report describes an approximately 30 year old intact female Mealy Amazon parrot (Amazona farinosa) with infraorbital and cervicocephalic air sac granulomas. The patient presented to Cornell University's Exotics Service for evaluation of left sided facial swelling of several years duration. Physical exam revealed two masses, and a CT scan of the head and neck revealed a total of 5 masses, ultimately confirmed to be granulomas based on cytology. This paper will discuss upper respiratory tract disease (URTD) in birds, including pertinent anatomy, etiologies, clinical signs, diagnosis, management, and surgical approaches.
