Femur fractures are common injuries in the dog and cat, usually following significant trauma. In adult dogs fractures most commonly occur through the diaphysis, but in skeletally immature dogs they often involve some aspect of the metaphyseal growth plate. The distal femoral physis makes up the largest percentage of physeal fractures in young animals (1 ). This report discusses a distal femoral physeal fracture and the prognosis and techniques associated with potential repair.
