Abstract
[Excerpt] Puerto Rican electoral activism in urban America is a relatively recent development. When we contrast electoral activism with labor activism, we find that Puerto Rican participation in the labor movement generally has been more intensive and consistent. From the early 1900s until the 1960s, politically sensitive or conscientious Puerto Ricans tended to be attracted to labor activism rather than electoral activism.
