Abstract

Sustainable tourism has become increasingly popular due to the global rise in greenhouse gas emissions. Vota Ranch, in Eastern Kenya, is looking to increase the sustainability of their eco-farm by incorporating tree planting on-site and within nearby schools, growing more produce to increase the percentage of food grown on their own farm, and by developing a composting system to recycle food waste on the premises. The goal for Vota Ranch is to build a community where people can interact with nature and truly enjoy themselves without putting excess pressure on the surrounding environment. This paper will develop a framework for Vota Ranch to increase their tree planting, agricultural output, and composting ability in an efficient, economical, and environmental way.
