Urban - Climate, Cities, and Architecture
The composition of urban spaces is multi-layered and a combination of various agents. The degree book is a curation of projects done during the Masters of Advanced Architecture Design that intend to explore various roles of architecture and design in the creation of the urban. The three-semester course sequence provided a framework to unpack complex urban conditions. This framework can be understood as a series of lenses that have been broadly categorized under three topics that most impact the creation of an urban space; the inevitable climate change, the composition of institutions that comprise a city, and the changing role of architecture. The three are interlinked, and co-dependent and arise from the aspiration of creating equitable spaces that are inclusive and sensitive to the realities of the world today. Through the various studios and electives, there was a well-rounded understanding of the complexities and challenges that urban cities face today. The challenges provided a platform for thinking of strategies and solutions that allow for innovation and looking at creation in a new multifaceted way.
