This thesis concerns positroid varieties in the Grassmannian, which are defined by cyclic rank conditions. We focus on affine patches on these positroid varieties. Building on the work of Snider [2011], our main result gives a method to determine whether a particular affine patch on a particular positroid variety is singular. We also provide a secondary result concerning
