Memorial Statement for Professor Earl Lewis Brunett, D.V.M., M.S. (1898-1943) who was Assistant in Diagnosis (1919-1922), Instructor (1922-1923), Assistant Professor (1927), and Associate Professor (1940) of Poultry Diseases in the Department of Microbiology at the New York State Veterinary College from 1919 to 1942. "Dr. Brunett was one of the first veterinarians in the State to devote himself entirely to the study of diseases of poultry" and was chosen to lead the Poultry Disease Laboratory in 1925. He also advised and taught methods of disease prevention to poultry men. Quickly established as "one of the leading poultry pathologists in the country," he played an important role in the diagnosis and eradication of fowl plague, pullorum disease, and fowl-pox. The memorial statements contained herein were prepared by the Office of the Dean of the University Faculty of Cornell University to honor its faculty for their service to the university.
