Abstract

Citric acid is a naturally occurring substance and a common food ingredient. It is a severe eye irritant and can cause other health problems to exposed people. Its pesticidal use is primarily as an antimicrobial. The EPA has affirmed that no additional data requirements need to be filled and on that basis determined that citric acid can be used as an active ingredient in a minimum-risk pesticide.
