SAFETY AND STABILITY OF TRANSPORTATION VULNERABLE PERSONS : PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES IN SEOUL METROPOLITAN AREA
To ensure equal access to transportation and mobility services for individuals with disabilities, physical, personal, and systemic barriers must be addressed. Solidarity Against Disability Discrimination protests in Seoul has highlighted the need for change. Interviews with 22 individuals with disabilities and 3 go-along interviews reveal challenges such as inaccessible infrastructure, personal obstacles, and a lack of understanding from service providers and policymakers. To achieve mobility justice, policymakers must take a comprehensive approach, investing in detailed welfare plans for people with disabilities and addressing systemic issues. By taking these steps, we can create a more inclusive transportation system and mobility environment that enables individuals with disabilities to travel safely throughout Seoul Metropolitan Area, contributing to greater social inclusion and a more equitable and just society.
