Jason Mazzone, Gerald Baylin Professor of Law at Brooklyn Law School, presented a talk on his new book "Copyfraud and Other Abuses of Intellectual Property Law," published by Stanford University Press in early October. The book looks at "overreaching" claims of intellectual property rights by content creators and content providers--covering everything from false copyright notices on public domain works ("copyfraud") to lawyers telling photographers they can't sell photographs of Times Square because the buildings are trademarked to contracts that extinguish fair use and first-sale rights.
