Abstract

This news item is about: Nearly 80 students will be introduced to selected regions of the anatomy and physiology of dogs and cats, with correlations to veterinary medicine, presented by Drs. John Hermanson and Paul Maza, of Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine. During the three-week experience, students will be presented with the details of clinical cases and diseases that will help to illustrate the basic sciences and provide an introduction to veterinary medicine. Hands-on laboratory exercises will showcase anatomy and physiology. Small group tutorial sessions will be facilitated by program instructors, enabling students to experience the problem-based learning pedagogy that is a core element of Cornell's curriculum. In addition, students will participate in lectures and laboratory exercises designed to introduce students to common pet emergencies and first aid applications.
