In the age of AI algorithms, standardization, and remote decision-making, placelessness is erasing regional wisdom and indigenous identities. My work, both drawn and written, is informed by critical approaches that celebrate critical place consciousness, hybridity, and experimental materiality. Through discursive exchanges, historical layeredness, and social interaction, I think of design research as an analytical tool to substantiate architectural imagination. Within the realm of design research lies a tremendous potential to translate theories and histories of architecture into visual narratives. These narratives include multi-media diagramming exercises, sketches, paintings, essays, collages, and myriad forms of storytelling. While adopting some non-cartesian and unconventional techniques, I identify the missing links crucial to establishing a dialogic flow of visual and discursive storytelling. In this spirit, I synthesize my academic and experiential journey at Cornell during a year-long rigorous research and design into subsets collected around punctuation marks, such as ellipses, commas, semi-colons, hyphens, apostrophes, and so forth. Thus punctuations, in essence, help me enrich the ongoing development of architectural rhetoric, falling into categories that continue, connect, disconnect, contradict, explicate, question, exclaim, conjecture, or terminate.
