Abstract

Geraniol, a naturally-occurring terpenoid found in food plants, is often used as a fragrance or ingredient in cosmetics. When used as a pesticide, it is primarily a mosquito and tick repellent, or used against mites. Most studies show geraniol poses little risk to the environment or human health, although a portion of the population suffers from sub-lethal allergies upon dermal or inhalation exposure.
