Transition Probabilities of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) by County Across the United States

Abstract
This software computes the annual transition probability that any given county in the U.S. that is currently lacking a single detection of chronic wasting disease (CWD) will produce a positive detection the following year. Project investigators used the calendar year of first detection in positive areas, reported at the county or management unit level by wildlife agencies across the U.S. and Canada between 1997 and 2025, to compute the annual probability of CWD detection by distance (km) to the nearest reported CWD detection. Transition probabilities constitute the baseline disease risk in the hazard model 2.0.
