Economics

Permanent URI for this community

Economics is the most popular major in the Arts College, with over 220 students graduating in 2003. The Economics major offers a unique combination of theoretical and analytical rigor with concern for "real world" problems. And we have enjoyed an excellent record in job placement. Veterans of our undergraduate program go on to careers in banking, accounting, and management -- and also in journalism, government service, marketing, and a wide variety of other fields. Each year, several recent graduates enroll in law schools and in PhD programs. Quite a few economists, after a few years' employment, enroll in graduate schools of business administration.
