Novel Functions of Microalgal Phytochemicals in Feeding Broiler Chicks and Laying Hens

Other Titles
Abstract
This presentation will elaborate nutritional, metabolic, and health effects of supplemental microalgal phytochemicals in diets for food-producing animals. Dose-dependent enrichments of the phytochemicals in the tissues and egg yolk of animals will be described, and the consequent impacts on the tissue redox status, animal growth and meat quality, and egg production and quality will be discussed. Dietary efficacy of the phytochemicals-enriched meat and egg yolk and the health value for human consumption, estimated in a surrogate animal model, will be highlighted.
