Upon donating The Elizabeth Stavely Letters, collection #8442, to the archives an ebook was compiled under the title, Love, Mother A Woman’s Life in Letters 1978 - 2013, it is available here.

The collection itself contains letters from Elizabeth Stavely to her family. The letters discuss her time at Cornell University, Northern California, her membership in the League of Women Voters, the natural world, and travels to Australia, Europe and the Far East. Also a copy of the Spring 2014 Ezra Magazine with an article discussing the letters and their donation.

Biography: Elizabeth Williams was born in Syracuse, New York in 1912, and graduated from Cornell University in 1935, with a degree in botany. After graduation she worked as a lab assistant and secretary for Donald F. Jones, a distinguished plant geneticist at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiement Station in New Haven. In 1937 she met and married Homer Eaton Stavely, a postdoctoral fellow in the Biochemistry Department at Yale. Homer Stavely worked as a researcher at E.R. Squibb & Co. in New Brunswick, at Commercial Solvents Corporation in Terre Haute, Indiana, at Mead, Johnson & Co. in Evansville, Indiana, and as Dean and faculty member at the Medical College of Ohio. The Stavelys had three sons, Homer Eaton, Jr., Keith, and James Raymond. Homer Stavely died in 1973, and Elizabeth moved to Mendocino, California to live with her youngest son and his wife.
