Description
BibApp (http://www.bibapp.org/) a campus research gateway and expert finder under development by the University of Wisconsin at Madison and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, matches researchers on your campus with their publication data and mines that data to see collaborations and to find experts in research areas. With BibApp, it is easy to see what publications can be placed on the Web for greater access and impact. BibApp can also push those publications directly into an institutional or other repository using the SWORD protocol.
The presentation focuses on how BibApp works and the mechanisms that have been developed to help deal with messy metadata issues (author names, publishers names, publication names), as well as a discussion on some of general issues with reuse of publication data. At the end, there is an overview of where BibApp is headed with a fresh infusion of campus support at both Illinois and Wisconsin.
