To solve these issues, a team comprised of information technology and public services staff collaborated on the development of a Special Delivery Database. Using an iterative design process, we were able to build a MySQL database accessed through a website built using the Ruby on Rails framework. The website provides functions for batch loading and managing records, as well as a simple API that is used to look up the delivery options associated with a particular user. The Special Delivery Database is built to interact with both our search interface and Integrated Library System (ILS) and has reduced processing for remote programs and faculty office delivery from 15 to 3 steps.en-USCC0 1.0 Universallibrary deliveryMySQL databaseSpeedy Delivery: How a Librarian and an IT Guy Solved a Problempresentation
