This study summarizes the literature that shows retail and consumer waste rates for frozen food are substantially lower than their fresh counterparts in almost all cases. The advantage of frozen food is particularly evident for fruit and vegetable products. We also present some of the reasons for frozen food waste identified in the literature, and why rates are lower than for fresh products.
