WITNESSETH: that the said party of the first part in consideration of the promises and agreements of the said party of the second part, hereby promise and agree: that all the salespeople members of said Local Union No. 569, ac­ cording to its Constitution and By-Laws, to which reference is hereby made, and all regular salespeople here­ after employed by said party of the first part shall be willing to become members of said Local Union No. 569 after thirty days of employment, and all extra salespeople will become members of said Local Union No. 569 after they have been employed fifteen days (actual days employed), and that each salesperson shall exhibit his or her working membership card once each month, to the party of the first part, showing such salesperson to be in good standing with said Local Union No. 569. Local Union No. 569 will issue permit cards to new employes, upon beginning work as regular salespeople, per­ mits good only for thirty days, also new employes beginning or working as extra salespeople will be given per­ mits good for fifteen days, (actual days employed). First—that the working conditions prevailing in the stores of the party of the first part regarding all em­ ployes shall be as follows: (a) After one years service, employes will be given one weeks paid vacation, same to be taken at a time that is satisfactory to employer and employee. (b) Minimum Wage Scale: (1) Women - - - - - - - - - - - $12.00 Per Week. (2) Men - - - - - - - - - - - - $12.00 Per Week. (c) That all male employes shall be paid regular rate of pay for any overtime, other than regular store hours. (d) That all department stores, dry goods stores, shoe stores, variety stores, millinery stores, gents furnish­ ings stores and ladies ready-to-wear stores will open at 8:30 a. m. and close at 6:00 p. m. (e) That all hardware stores and paint stores will open at 7:30 a. m. and close at 6:00 p. m. (f) That all furniture stores will open at 8:00 a. m. and close at 6:00 p. m. (g) That all jewelry stores will open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 6:00 p. m. (h) That all auto supply stores will open at 7:30 a. m. and close at 6:00 p. m. ( i ) That all grocery and food stores will open at________a. m. and close a t ________ p. m. (j) That all drug stores or pharmacies will open at ______a. m. and close a t________ p. m. (k) That all stores included in this agreement, with the exception of drug stores, will close at 9:00 p. m. on Saturdays. (l) That all stores included in this agreement with the exception of auto supply, grocery and drug stores, will close at 5:00 p. m. during July and August. (m) That all employes in all stores have one full hour for their noon meal. (n) Christmas closing—That all stores in this agreement will be permitted to remain open until 8:00 p. m. from Dec. 20th to Dec. 24th except as provided hereafter as relating to holidays and close at 9:00 p. m. on Christ­ mas Eve. (Drug stores not included.) First—That the holiday closing of said stores shall be as follows: ALL SUNDAYS, CHRISTMAS DAY, NEW YEARS DAY, FOURTH OF JULY, LABOR DAY, ARMISTICE DAY, THANKSGIVING DAY, and any other day a majority of the merchants may agree upon. When holiday falls on Sunday, the day following shall be considered as holiday. (Drug stores not included.) Second—That all members of the Merchant’s Association shall be permitted to sign a contract of the Retail Clerk’s Union No. 569, which specifies all union conditions in accordance with the Constitution and By-Laws of the Retail Clerk’s International Protective Association, where the use of the Store Card is permitted, but the open­ ing and closing hours stipulated in such contract shall be specified herein. Third—It is agreed that the party of the first part concedes Labor the right to organize and each seperate craft the right to control its own special line of business. The party of the second part, in consideration of the promises and agreements of the parties of the first part being faithfully kept and performed, hereby promise and agree: First—That the members of the organizations of the parties of the first part shall not be considered unfair by the members of the organization of the party of the second part so long as they comply with the provisions of this agreement. Second—That any member of the organization of the parties of the first part who may desire a Union Store Card and will comply with the Constitution and By-Laws of the Reatil Clerk’s International Protective Associa­ tion, shall be granted the use of the same during the continuance of this agreement. Third—That the individual agreement providing for the use of the Union Store Card shall specify the same opening and closing hours as are provided for herein. Fourth—That the organization of the party of the second part will proclaim to the public that an amicable adjustment has been reached and will endeavor to fully acquaint the people of this fact, in order that the harmoni­ ous relations may be established between all interested parties immediately upon the ratification of this agree­ ment by the organizations interested. It is further agreed that in the event of any disagreement arising between the parties hereto, the same shall be referred to an Arbitration committee of five members, two to be chosen by each of the parties hereto and these four to select a fifth. The finding of this Arbitration committee shall be final and binding upon all parties hereto and pending a decision there shall be no strike or lockout. It is further agreed by all parties that the interests o f each shall be mutually taken care of and advanced, and that any violation of the foregoing stipulations shall be sufficient cause for surrender of the Union Store Card.
